Equipment
You can never do too much in any field without the right equipment. Below is a list of the necessary equipment you will need along with pictures so that you may more easily identify each piece. If you are taking this course through Lynn Werner's Culinary School, your equipment will be supplied. If not, after the equipment list are some links to on-line brewing suppliers so that you may purchase the necessary equipment. A large
Stainless Steel Stockpot that will
hold at least 6 gallons of liquid.

A long Stainless
Steel Spoon or Paddle for mixing ingredients together.

A Funnel
with a filter insert.
|
|
A Straining
Bag for additional filtering.
|
|
A 5-gallon
Glass Carboy for fermentation.
|
|
A Cork
or Stopper Plug with a hole for the fermentation lock to seal
the carboy.
|
|
A Vapor
Lock (also called a Fermentation Lock or Air Lock)
to fit in the stopper plug.

|
A Drip/Overflow
Pan to put under the carboy during fermentation.
