That Was Then, This Is WOW

When Andy joined the group in February 1999 the vibe was so good the band decided all gig money would be squirreled away for the recording of an ambitious new album. Rehearsals for recording began in August of '99. Feeling the need for an objective ear, WOW looked around for a producer who would be interested in the project. They found one in Joe Brien, a virtual legend on the Portland scene, noted for fronting The Kopterz and his new outfit The Troubles, as well as having his hand in on the recordings of any area band worth listening to from the last decade. With a budget of nearly three grand, WOW entered Big Sound Recording Studio in Westbrook in late October of '99. The budget was doubled in April of 2000 when the band was awarded an artist grant from Jim Beam Brands Co's B.E.A.M. committee. Actual recording of the record was completed to the band's satisfaction in November of 2000, 13 months after it began. Joe Brien mixed the recording, listened, remixed six of the twelve songs, listened, and then had Lance Vardis master the record. He then listened, remixed two more tracks, had Lance remaster and finally pressed the gold copy in late February 2001. Meanwhile Dennis Gordon of Gordon's graphics was busy putting together the album artwork, working around the concept of sonogram images from three of the band members unborn children. Tom Daly of Crooked Cove Records gathered the gold master, tweaked the artwork to size and sent the materials to the duplication factory in Sanford, Maine (by way of Vancouver, Canada and NYC for artwork film printing). The duplication order was completed and received on March 19, 2001. At long last THIS ALBUM IS NOW AVAILABLE!!
