CERTIFICATION deals with the equipment needed to operate a helicopter. If you have better and more capable equipment, your helicopter can provide you better service.

Certification has a standard shorthand. When you use the proper terminology, you can tell your helicopter what you can provide them with just a few words.

The certification term LEVEL describes the weather condition. This includes the cloud CEILING and flight VISIBILITY. It also involves DAY or NIGHT.

Table 1-1 summarizes the various LEVELs:

Level I Day and Night IMC (instrument) operations
Level II Day and Night VMC (visual) operations
Level III Day only VMC (visual) operations
