HH-60 landing on a WMEC

A ship certified to Class 1 has the capability to land, service, and maintain an aircraft. A Class 1 certification includes hangar facilities, fuel/defuel capabilities, AC & DC external power, washdown, and nitrogen service. This is the "classiest" certification.

A ship certified to Class 2 has the capability to land and service an aircraft. A Class 2 certification includes fueling and AC & DC external power.

A ship certified to Class 2A has the capability to land aircraft and provide limited service. A Class 2A certification includes fueling and DC external power only.

Finally, a ship certified to Class 3 can land an aircraft but provide no services.
