Since we have some time to kill waiting for the deck to be cleared, here is a picture of the ship. This was our home for two months. You can see the ship has a lot of cranes for doing science experiements, and a tall mast. They have a conning station called "the aloft con" in the crow's nest, where they can drive the ship from on-high scouting for good ice leads. You can also drive from the bridge, which is 82 feet wide and has a great view.
