Question #1
Your ship has a landing area with limited service facilities. Your ship's certification is Class 2A. (Review)
Question #2
You are on a Coast Guard Cutter operating with a Navy helicopter. Since your ship is certified to Level II, you know that the helicopter can operate in weather conditions down to 500 foot ceiling, 1 mile visibility, day or night. The only exception to Level II weather is for Coast Guard working with Coast Guard - then you can have weather down to a 300 foot ceiling and 1 mile visibility. Since your helicopter is from the Navy, they must maintain standard Level II weather minimums - a 500 foot ceiling and 1 mile visibility. (Review)
Question #3
You just got a radio call from an H-53 helicopter inbound to drop off a VERTREP load. You check your certification document and see that your ship has a Class 5 certification for the H-53. How high above the flight deck should the H53 hover? - 15 feet above the deck. A Class 5 certification allows VERTREP Cargo operations while hovering at 15 feet. (Review)
Question #4
The weather today has a ceiling at 200 feet and 2 miles visibility. You are certified for Level II operations. Today's flight operations will be cancelled due to low ceiling. A Level II certification requires at least a 500 foot ceiling (or 300 feet for CG cutters working with CG helicopters), and 1 mile visibility. Since you have only a 200 foot ceiling, you have to cancel flight operations, even though the visibility was OK. (Review)
Question #5
The engineer reported the flow rate was 35 gallons per minute during the last Helicopter In-flight Refueling (HIFR). You should report your certification as Class 6R. Since your HIFR flow rate is between 25 and 49 gallons per minute, you are certified to Class 6R, (for Restricted flow rate). (Review)
You should be all set for your verbal check and signature for PQS section 106, Certification Fundamentals.
